The three-dimensional works titled Pumping Bags (2020-2024) are directly connected to motherhood. All the materials Maria Fragoudaki used in these pieces were single-use pumping products. In this body of work, she creates sculptural paintings using materials that became essential during her pregnancy and breastfeeding period. Despite her efforts to avoid single-use plastics, she realized their use is inevitable, especially during this sensitive and demanding stage of a woman’s life.
